Loyalty: The Key to Divine Promotion
A man’s life is the sum of what and whom he has been loyal to. Loyalty is not something a college degree can give you nor can you purchase it with money yet a loyal individual has more value than a rich man and more wisdom than many educated people. It is the universal sign of character. It is that deep seated anchor that tells the heart that rebellion is not an option. And what you refuse to rebel against has won the highest place of honor in your life. I dare you to make a list of what you are loyal to; it will teach you what you really are.
On your list be sure to include your loyalty to TV, entertainment, hobbies, friends, internet, and media. Compare those things to your loyalty to your marriage, church attendance, how you talk about your boss, parents, or your minister. Most people find that they are more religious in their loyalty with trivial things than they are with the things that are dear to God’s heart. God cherishes and watches closely how you conduct yourself in your marriage. (Malachi 2:14) How you speak of your boss in the break room is how you spoke of God in His throne room. (Colossians 3:23) If a child is not taught to respect and honor their parents they will not respect and honor God. (Ephesians 6:2-3) When you complain about your church you are sowing seeds of discord among brethren. (Proverbs 6:16-19) When you abandon your pastor, you are deserting one who has been given watch over your soul. (Hebrews 13:17) It is the loyalty in these relationships God delights in.
Proverbs 3:3-4 says, “Let not loyalty and faithfulness forsake you…so will you find favor and good repute with God and with man.”(RSV) Loyalty is an amazing force that moves the heart of God and the heart of man on your behalf. It is the connection that causes God to move upon the hearts of those most closely connected to your blessing in this life. For example, if you want to restore your marriage then be loyal to your spouse. Not only keep yourself pure towards them but go out of your way to speak well of them. When you have done your part to be loyal then God can do His part to move upon them on your behalf. If you want promotion in a company then work for the company and not just the paycheck. When you refrain from the “beat up the boss” conversations then God can move that boss to promote you. Loyalty can go places that college degrees can’t go. Proverbs 19:22 says, “That which is desired in a man is loyalty and kindness…” (Amplified) If you need favor from someone in this life, be loyal to them. Every human heart longs for someone to be loyal to them. God’s heart is the same: Be loyal to His favorite things and He will be loyal to your favorite things. (2 Sam 22:26) Amp
