The Resurrection
The greatest moment that ever occurred on the face of the planet was the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. Humanity is a creation and therefore was the possession of God. We had no right to betray the One who gave us life. Humanity rebelled and committed high treason against a perfectly just God. Humanity took an alliance with the ultimate mutineer, which is the devil. This wicked betrayal is worthy of eternal punishment. The mutiny would require banishment from the Glory of God and His dwelling place. Yet in all our guilt we did not take the punishment. The innocent One, Jesus Christ, received God’s entire wrath on the cross so we would not have to undergo spiritual incarceration in hell. Hell is a real place but it was not made for people. It was made for the devil and his angels. The only reason a person would ever end up there is because they did not receive the pardon purchased at the cross.
When Jesus rose again it ended the debate between creation and evolution. The resurrection proves that mankind is not the pinnacle of millions of years of evolution. It proves that we are a beloved creation created for the purposes of fellowship with God. No longer can the human conscience be certain of the so called brotherhood with primates. Not as long as the Resurrection account is told. If Jesus indeed rose again then truly we are not intelligent animals, we are spirit beings with an eternal purpose. There has not yet lived a man who has never considered eternity.
When Jesus rose again He ended the debate of whether there are many pathways to God. He forever distinguished Himself by being the only One who ever defeated death. Mohammed died and is still dead today. Buddha is dead. Death conquered them both as it has every man who was not deity. Yet Christ showed the world that there is one true God. He has a Name and He has invited everyone into forgiveness through Jesus Christ. Jesus was not just a man; He is Deity.
Without the resurrection then human life is reduced to worthlessness and confusion. Without the resurrection then we would have to endorse the contradictions between all the world’s religions. If there are many ways to God then we would have to accept all pathways, even the ones that require brutality and murder. The resurrection brings order and worth where there was none before. Jesus is exactly Who He said He is. In John 14:6 Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No man comes to the Father except by me.” With that single statement He eliminated all the confusion to life. He is the One to follow. He is the One to live for.
Have you accepted that forgiveness that God offers to you? If not then you need to pray this: “Heavenly Father I confess that Jesus is Lord. I believe in my heart that He rose again from the dead so that I can be forgiven. Lord Jesus, forgive me of my sin and be my Lord.”
